Shepherd Hill Summer Sports Academy Clinic Philosophy
The philosophy of the Shepherd Hill Summer Sports Academy is to provide a safe environment where children can learn the fundamentals of a variety of sports, as well as work on team building, experience camaraderie, and sharpen academic skills through a variety of non-athletic activities. Attendees participate in traditional athletic and non-athletic activities, and can feel that they have achieved a measure of success. The staff encourages all attendees to participate in all of the drills, games, and associated activities. The staff help to promote a healthy respect for the sport, sportsmanship, and the common values we all hold true: honesty, cooperation, caring for others, friendship, and self-esteem. The staff of the Shepherd Hill Summer Sports Academy is made up primarily of Shepherd Hill coaches, teachers, and student-athletes. The Shepherd Hill Summer Sports Academy clinics intentionally maintain a high staff ratio in order to provide more individualized attention to each child, thus making the clinic experience more rewarding.

Can I Register For Multiple Clinic Sessions On The Same Day?
Yes and no. Each week of the SH Summer Sports Academy offers morning (9am-12pm) and afternoon (1pm-4pm) sessions. Any child can register for one morning and one afternoon session each week (aka two sessions per day). However, if multiple morning and multiple afternoon sessions are offered during the same week, the attendee must select only one morning and one afternoon session for that week. We are offering many of the afternoon, non-athletic clinic sessions twice throughout the summer - so if you really want to do both clinics that fall on the same week, you can choose one and register for the other later in the summer when it is offered again!
Does my child need to wear a mask?
The SH Summer Sports Academy will follow all updated federal, state, and local guidelines regarding the containment and prevention of COVID-19. Accordingly, if at the time of your child's clinic session the guidelines (including those adopted by the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District) mandate mask-wearing, then masks will be required. Hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the SH Summer Sports Academy, and all attendees will be asked to utilize hand sanitizer (or otherwise exercise proper hand hygiene) throughout the days and weeks.
Information Pages
Prior to registration opening, information pages will be available online. These pages will include all of the clinic specific details such as general schedules; check in locations/times etc. We will do our best to inform you of changes to the clinics but periodically check the information pages as the date for the camp gets closer to make sure you have the correct information.
How Long Does It Take to Get a Refund?
The refund process can be completed within 48-72 hours if original payment was made online, and can take between three and six weeks (but is usually quicker) if paid offline. You will be reimbursed by check through the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District Office. All refunds that are requested after the beginning of the Sports Clinics will be processed at the conclusion of the SH Summer Sports Academy Program.
Transfer to a Different Clinic
There is NO fee when transferring from one sport to another (Example: Football to Basketball). All transfers can be completed by emailing sportsacademy@dcrsd.org. Transfers will be granted on a space-available basis only.
Supervision
While attending clinic sessions, clinic participants will be supervised at all times by the coaching staff.
Early Arrivals
The Shepherd Hill Summer Sports Academy offers an Extended Day Program (EDP). Individuals who elect to participate in the EDP can expect the following: early drop-off period (no earlier than 8:00am), lunch period (12:00pm to 1:00pm - *lunch is not included*), and late pick-up period (no later than 4:45pm). The EDP is supervised, but not structured. All EDP students will be dropped off at the marked location by the Shepherd Hill cafeteria, and Clinic Directors will pick-up/drop-off their EDP students from this location each day. The EDP is offered for $10 per student, per day for each clinic, regardless of the combination of periods (i.e. $40 max per student, per week). The EDP fee is all-inclusive, which means it covers extended supervision for any combination of periods each day, and will not be prorated (e.g. early drop-off only).
Snacks and Refreshments for Participants
All clinics will offer water refill stations, to be monitored and dispensed accordingly by clinic staff, due to current COVID-19 restrictions. All attendees are encouraged to bring personal water bottles with enough water for the day. Clinic attendees are also encouraged to bring a nut free snack with them every day. Lunch will NOT be provided, even if the Extended Day Program is purchased for the "lunch" period - in this event, attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch with them.
